This unit will showcase the world we live in. Each year group will have the chance to explore a special part of our world- starting on a local level and then venturing further afield. Geography and Science will be some of the main drivers in this unit, with each year group
focusing on place knowledge to start their learning. Location knowledge is progressive and will always start with a recap of previous knowledge. This unit also has many enrichment opportunities: children will have the opportunity to experience what it is they are learning
about, and to be able to draw effective comparisons to what they already know including their local area.
Year groups are to focus on how God’s creation is respected and how humans take responsibility to create a sustainable world. Children will learn that Creation provides us with the physical fabric of our lives; the natural environment gives us the stuff we use every day. It
gives us the food for our tables, the material for our clothes and the materials to build our houses and churches. It is also a place where people have experienced a great closeness with God through its beauty and wonder. Creation is a gift from God and provides us with
these things, the basics for our lives, yet it can so easily and so often be taken for granted. Children will explore human actions and discuss the care for their focus theme. Do they live out the teachings of scripture?
